Furthermore, Giampaolo is the President of ISOA (Italian Society of Actuaries), where he has been a Board member for many years. He served as the Past President of the National Actuarial Board from 2010 to 2020, and since 1994, he has been deeply involved in all activities of the Italian Actuarial Association. He holds a degree in Statistics and Actuarial Science from the University “La Sapienza” in Rome, along with a PhD in Actuarial Science. Giampaolo is also an author of several scientific and informative books and articles. Over the past 30 years, he has worked as a consultant actuary and is also a contract lecturer in actuarial and financial mathematics at three universities.

Giampaolo Crenca said: “It is an honor to represent European Actuaries as Chairperson of AAE. In the name of continuity, the main goal is to address the great challenges in a changing world and seize the opportunities to further develop the actuarial profession from all perspectives. This means consolidating and further developing the traditional fields, while also opening doors to the broader fields where some actuaries are already involved, such as artificial intelligence, digitalization, sustainability, and enterprise risk management. It also entails looking further ahead, pursuing a strategic plan to support these objectives. Therefore, the focus is on strengthening the AAE’s organization, increasing collaboration with all AAE’s member associations, enhancing education, communication, and professionalism, implementing the necessary skills, and solidifying relationships with stakeholders, especially institutional ones like the European Commission, members of the European Parliament, and EIOPA. The horizon for actuaries is vast, and with passion, enthusiasm, and courage, we are moving towards an evolution of the actuary capable of assisting decision-makers in evaluating risks from a global perspective.”

Lutz Wilhelmy, the Immediate Past Chairperson, said: "Giampaolo has been very active in the actuarial community in Europe and has worked in various areas concerning the development of our profession, especially focusing on sustainability, fit and proper, communication, and much more. He has had a deep involvement in the AAE Board, serving as an AAE Board member and the past year as Vice-Chairperson. I am delighted to contribute next year under his chairpersonship, which will further develop our organization."
